Registry Office


  1. Issuance of birth certificates, marriage certificates and death certificates

  5. Keeping a record on the change of the last name after divorce(up to two months since the judgment of dissolution of marriage )

  6. Birth registration, if the parents are married only one of the parents who is to bring marriage certificate, birth certificates as well as citizenships certifications for both parents can register the baby. If the parents of the baby have different citizenships, it is necessary to make a special statement by which they decide whose citizenship the baby is to have. If the parents are not married it is necessary for both parents to be present in order to make a statement on paternity recognition, birth certificates and citizenship certificates for both parents as well as IDs.

  7. Additional enrolment into birth, marriage and death registers-based on request as well as by order of our diplomatic and consular representatives abroad or by request of a person who obtained right to be enrolled into domestic registers by getting Serbian citizenship. In the second case, a person encloses birth certificate( not older than six months), citizenship certificate( not older than six months, copy is also acceptable), residence certificate issued by Ruma police station, copy of the ID, marriage certificate( if the change of marital status is not already specified in the birth certificate)

  8. Application for the conclusion of the marriage(for the future bride and groom born in Ruma it is necessary for both of them to be present and to have IDs, if one of them is born outside Ruma it is necessary to enclose birth certificate as well as citizenship certificate. If the bride or groom is a foreigner it is necessary to enclose international birth certificate or birth certificate issued in his/her country translated into Serbian by an official court interpreter, as well as certificate of no impediment also translated into Serbian. There is no fee to be paid if the wedding ceremony is held in the official premises, but if the wedding ceremony is held outside official premises it is necessary to pay 7,000 RSD fee. It goes without saying that Registrar from Ruma can perform wedding ceremonies only on the territory of the Municipality of Ruma. If a foreign citizen who wishes to get married does not speak Serbian well enough s/he is obliged to hire an authorized interpreter for his/her native language. It is also possible to conclude marriage through an authorized person in exceptional cases, but it is necessary to have a Decision of competent authority. The Decision is issued after all the necessary documentation is obtained including certified accreditation of a person who wishes to get married through an authorized person as well as the written proof of not being able to be present personally during wedding ceremony.

  9. Reporting a deceased person in order to be enrolled into death register( it takes two copies of death certificate issued by competent authority, ID of the deceased or birth or marriage certificate of the deceased as well as ID of the person who reports the death.

  10. Composing death certificates for probate court hearings (for people who passed away outside Ruma)-it takes a photocopy of death certificate and that the person who brings the death certificate knows data on the property that goes to the heirs.
