Cultural arts society Branko Radicevic from Ruma was founded in February 1969. At the beginning of its work, more than one hundred young people anxious for dance, song and playing were gathered. Based on the achieved results, it has been ranked among more famous music ensembles in Vojvodina, as well as Serbia. The largest section of the Cultural arts society, folklore section, gradually turned into Ensemble of Folk Dances and Songs.

From the very beginning, the Ensemble based its artistic program on the basic principles of stage amateurism based on enabling the members for dancing-folklore activities and the cultivation of the authentic folklore of Vojvodina, as well as folklore of the regions of former Yugoslavia. All choreographies are based on folk customs, authentic Serbian songs and the music of our folklore region. Children’s groups of the Ensemble have been seriously working all the time which on several occasions resulted in winning plaques in Provincial competitions.

Some of the awards and achievements of the ensemble until 2008 are:

• 4 gold, 12 silver and 4 bronze plaques in the Festivals of Music Societies of Vojvodina
• special awards for the best music backing, the most authentic costumes, the best vocal soloist, the best music backing, the best instrumental soloists, the audience award for the singing of the dancing part of the ensemble
• the plaque of the Serbian Amateur Federation and it was ranked among top four folklore ensembles of Serbia, as well as the special award for the best new choreography
